HYMN FOR THE DAY
Rejoice and be glad! The Redeemer has come!
Go look on His cradle, His cross, and His tomb.

Sound His praises, tell the story, Of Him Who was slain
Sound His praises, tell with gladness, He liveth again!

Rejoice and be glad! It is sunshine at last!
The clouds have departed, The shadows are past. Refrain

Rejoice and be glad! For the blood hath been shed
Redemption is finished, the price has been paid. Refrain

Rejoice and be glad! For the Lamb that was slain

O’er death is triumphant, And liveth again. Refrain

Rejoice and be glad! For our King is on high
He pleadeth for us on His throne in the sky. Refrain

“He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.” - Proverbs 22:16

Someone once said, I find that my sweetest, happiest, safest state, is just as a poor, guilty , helpless sinner, to call upon the name of the Lord, and take mercy at His hands as one who deserves nothing but His wrath, while I dare to hang the weight of my soul on such a sure promise as this – “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Jo hn Flavel once said, “He who calls you to come to Him for mercy and forgiveness, knows your sins, your weakness and your guilt, YET He calls you! Now if your sin does not hinder Christ from calling, neither should it hinder you from coming! What an encouragement to come to Him! Christ Jesus came into this world, on purpose, to save, not the righteous, but sinners. Therefore –
Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream.
All the fitness He requireth,
Is to feel your need of Him

The dead body of Lazarus was not more incapable of performing the functions of common life than we, by nature, are of performing one spiritual act, or even of feeling one spiritual desire; till20HE, who by His commanding Word, raised Lazarus from the grave, is pleased, by the power of His Holy Spirit, to raise us from the death of sin unto a new life of righteousness. – John Newton

“To the one we are the savor of death unto death; and to the other the savor of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?”
– II Corinthians 2:16
There is not a doctrine in all of the Scriptures which will not prove attractive to God’s sheep and repulsive to the goats. Men prove they think themselves wiser than God when they hide some doctrines which they think will drive away prospective converts and emphasize only those doctrines they believe will entice men to believe. Such men also prove they have little faith in the power of God to overcome fleshly objections to the Gospel truth. For this reason, some refuse to preach those doctrines sometimes called “Calvinism” and other times called the “Doctrines of Grace”, relegating those blessed truths to the category of “unnecessary” or even considering them a hindrance to evangelistic efforts. Imagine that! The truth of God a hindrance to the cause of God! &nbs p; There is a similar spiritual principle: There is not a doctrine of the Scripture which the sheep will not use to encourage themselves in the grace of God; and there is not a doctrine in the Scripture which the goats will not twist to their own destruction. And, even in this, some preachers prove they think themselves wiser than God for they withhold preaching some of the blessed promises of the Scriptures out of fear that some may misappropriate them. Do the Scriptures say, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved?” Then let us declare that promise plainly without feeling the need to hedge it about with restrictions and disclaimers. Do the Scriptures say, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus to be Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved?” Then let a man preach so without a blush of embarrassment that some have misused that Scripture to promote the twin heresies of free-willism and decisionism. As we testify to this world of God and His grace, let us not adjust our message out of concern to how people will r eact to it. We can be certain that all God’s sheep will, in God’s time, hear AND LOVE the Gospel of God’s free grace in Christ Jesus. And we can be equally certain that all the goats will reject and misappropriate the same message. Who is sufficient for such things? Who has the wisdom to know who will live by the preaching of grace and will die by the same message? Only God! So aim at everyone and fire both barrels.
