It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery

HYMN OF THE DAY
Sovereign grace o’er sin abounding
Ransomed souls the tidings swell
‘Tis a deep that knows no sounding
Who its breadth or length can tell
On it’s glories, let my soul forever dwell.

What from Christ my soul shall sever
Bound by everlasting bands
Once in Him, in Him forever
Thus th’ eternal covenant stands
None shall pluck me, from the strength o f Israel’s hands.

Heirs of God, joint heirs with Jesus
Long ere time its race begun
To His name eternal praises
Oh! What wonders love hath done!
One with Jesus, by eternal union, one.

On such love my soul still ponder
Love so great so rich so free
Say, while lost in holy wonder
Why, O Lord, such love to me?
Hallelujah, grace shall reign eternally.

(Tune: “Look Ye Saints, the Sight is Glorious!” p. 141)

THE SIN OF JEROBOAM
The most evil of the kings was Jeroboam. When another king was evil, he was said to follow the sins of Jeroboam. And what was Jeroboam’s sin? Jeroboam knew that Rehoboam, Solomon’s son, was the rightful king of all of Israel. Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, where the house of the Lord was and where people offered up sacrifice. Jeroboam feared that when the people went to Jerusalem to sacrifice, they would turn to Rehoboam as their rightful king. So he made two calves of gold and placed them in Bethal and Dan , places more readily accessible to the Israelites. He said, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold my gods of Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.” The scripture goes on to say, “This thing became a sin,” and “he made priest of the lowest of the people.” (I Kings 13:25-31)
This was the sin by which other sins were measured: changing the worship of God in a way that was more appealing and convenient for the flesh! The sin of Jeroboam is followed aggressively in our day!

Many times over the years I have heard of preachers and churches which seek to make the Bible relevant for today. The Bible is the Word of God! When men attempt to make the Bible relevant for today, it is neither more nor less than not really believing it is the Word of God. It is a watering down of the message of the Bible. When a man attempts to make the Holy Scriptures relevant, that man becomes irrelevant. God will not use that man’s attempt to make the Gospel more palatable to the flesh. That man manifests himself to be very ignorant and very arrogant. The job of the preacher is to preach the Word! Not attempt to make it relevant.

“…..In order that the purpose of God according to
election might stand….” - Romans 9:11
Election is sovereign – “the purpose of God.” The Bible reveals God to be sovereign in creation, providence, and salvation. When men object to God’s sovereignty exercised in election, we do well to point them to the apostle’s words in Romans 9:20-21, “Nay, but, oh man, who are you to reply against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it why hast thou made me thus?” Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump, to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?” Men have been told for so long that God is in their hands, it is no wonder that many are astonished to hear that the Bible says it is just the opposite.– Pastor David Pledger

God’s sovereign election of some to salvation and eternal life in Christ is in no way inconsistent with the promises of God in the Gospel. Let men say what they will, all the promises of God in Christ Jesus are yea and amen. You may not be able to see how election can be true and the promises of the Gospel to sinners are also true, but they are. Hear the promises God makes to sinners in the Gospel. Come to Christ, whoever you are, believe on Christ, whatever you have done, trust the Son of God and these promise are yours! - Pastor Don Fortner

Now God, who sees through all deceptions, knows that there is no goodness whatever in us. He says that “there is none righteous, no not one.” He knows that “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags,” and, therefore, the Lord Jesus did not come into the world to look after goodness and righteousness among men, but to bring goodness and righteousness with Him and to bestow them upon persons who have none of them. He comes, not because we ARE righteous, but to MAKE US SO; He justifies the ungodly! - C. H. Spurgeon
