It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery

HYMN OF THE DAY

Revive Thy Work, O Lord;
Create soul-thirst for Thee;
And hung’ring for the Word of life,
O may our spirits be!

Revive Thy work, O Lord;
Exalt Thy precious name;
And by the Holy Ghost our love
For Thee and Thine inflame.

Revive Thy work, O Lord;
Give pow’r unto Thy word;
And may its pure and sacred truth
In living faith be heard.

Revive Thy word, O Lord,
And give refreshing showers;
The glory shall be all Thine own,
The blessing, Lord be ours.

(Tune: “I Love Thy Kingdom”)

Proverb of the Week
“Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord and He shall save thee.” - Proverbs 20:22

WHAT IS A SINNER?
What is a sinner? It is a biblical term—A sinner is the person who commits the sins. A sinner is someone who all they do is sin. (Gen. 6:5) A sinner is someone who cannot not sin (Jer. 13:23). A sinner is someone who cannot stand in judgment of anyone. A sinner is someone who has no claims on God. If God elected everybody but him, if Christ died for all but him, if the Holy Spirit called all but him, he could not cry “unfair”. Not everybody is a sinner, in this sense. Ask them, and you will find out. But thank God, the Bible tells us, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”(I Tim. 1:15) This is the only type of sinner he saves. If you are a sinner, Christ came to save you!

ECONOMIC TURMOIL
Economic turmoil would certainly describe the day in which we are living. Men fear what they will lose during this economic down-turn.
When God called all the adult males to come appear before Him three times per year, they had to leave their families and property unprotected in order to do so. They could easily lose everything. But God said, “Neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the Lord Thy God thrice in the year” (Ex 34:24). We are under our heavenly Father’s protection. He controls everything—even men’s desires! There really is nothing to worry about. We will have what He has ordained us to have, and we will lose whatever is in our best interests to lose. All is well! We trust our Lord for all things spiritual and all things material as well.
It may be a time of economic turmoil for the world; but we are citizens of another country. Our heavenly Father is omnipotent. His is well able to take care of us. We are taught to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” We can be sure He will.

If there was ever one who had the bare minimum of what was needed to be saved, it was the thief on the cross. But he also had the maximum. It is not like he just barely made it in. He had such a fullness of salvation in Christ that nothing could be added to it. Christ alone is our salvation.
Nothing more! Nothing less! Nothing else!

EXHORT ONE ANOTHER
“But exhort one another daily, while it is called today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin” (Hebrews 3:13). All those adopted into God’s family should cultivate a continual care and concern for each family member. How can we do this? Look at what the scriptures teach!
I Cor. 12:25 “CARE one for another.”
John 13:34 “LOVE one another.”
James 5:16 “PRAY for one another.”
I Thess. 4:18 “COMFORT one another.”
Rom 15:14 “ADMONISH one another.”
I Thess 5:11 “EDIFY one another.”
Mark 9:50 “Be at PEACE with one another.”
Eph 4:32 “FORGIVE one another.”

FAITH AND CONVERSION
“A great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.” These people believed the Gospel! They came to Christ. They looked to Christ. They rested in Christ. They had that faith which is without works. “To him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Rom. 4:5). What was the evidence that they had this faith without works? Their works! “They believed, and turned to the Lord.” They changed direction. They were converted. They had been going away from the Lord, but no longer. A faith that is without conversion is a false faith. Conversely, a turning or conversion which is without faith is nothing more than a temporary religious experience. True faith and genuine conversion always go together. When thy stand alone, they are not real.

My salvation never depended on MY righteousness, and my assurance now does not depend on MY righteousness. When asked, “What right do you have to be in Heaven?” John Jasper replied, “I am not here on my righteousness but on THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.” Paul said, “By the grace of God I am what I am.” -Pastor Henry Mahan
