Sundays 11:00 am Channel 36 WTVQ
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.
Jesus is our great salvation
Worthy of our best esteem
He has saved His chosen nation
Join to sing aloud of Him
He has saved us, He has saved us
Christ alone could us redeem.
When involved in sin and ruin
And no helper here was found
Jesus our distress was viewing
Grace did more than sin abound
He has called us, He has called us
By His Gospel’s mighty sound.
Free election, known by calling
Is a privilege divine

Saints are kept from final falling
All the glory, Lord, be Thine
All the glory, all the glory
All the glory, Lord, is Thine!
(Tune: “Angels, from the Realms of Glory” p. 99)

“He that walketh in uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse
in his ways despiseth Him.” - Proverbs 14:2
DOES WORSHIP COST ANYTHING?
“Neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which
doth cost me nothing” (II Samuel 24:24). These were the words of David
to Araunah when he had attempted to give David what was necessary for the sacrifice.
This statement has a wide variety of applications. I would like for us to consider
one of these applications.
There is an element of sacrifice involved in public worship. There are some
things you forego, and some things you actually have to do to prepare yourself
for public worship. There is an effort involved in preparing yourself both physically
and spiritually. There is nothing casu al about worshipping God. The idea of
adapting any aspect of worship for convenience is an abomination. If worship
costs us nothing, you can be sure it will not be true worship. We must say with
David, “I will not offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that
which doth cost me nothing.”

BOLDNESS
“When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they
were unlearned and ignorant20men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of
them, that they had been with Jesus.”
Without doubt, the crying need of our day is boldness. Men empowered by the
presence of Christ with boldness. Men whose preaching is “thus saith the
Lord.” Men who are unintimidated, unmoved, unimpressed, and unaccommodating
to the whims and ways of this present evil world. Men who have “been with
Jesus”, and preach His naked Word without compromise or apology.
This is not an attempt to glorify the character of the messenger, but the message.
The message of the Gospel is such that there is no other way to preach it than
with boldness. If boldness is absent, the message itself is absent. It is “The
Gospel” that is “the power of God unto salvation.” If we preach
the Gospel with boldness, we will experience the truthfulness of that statement.

Notice the word “can”. It means ability. It could just as easily
be translated, “No man is able to come to Me.” It does not say,
“No man may come.” If you have a will to come, you certainly may.
But no man has the spiritual ability to come.
A lost man may feel guilty concerning many things, and even have a measure of
conviction. But a lost man is never convinced of his inability. He holds out
hope that he will one day do whatever it is he needs to do to secure his salvation.
He does not see his own inability. But when God the Holy Spirit convicts a man
of sin, he is made to see that not only his acts are sinful, but he lacks the
ability to do anything but sin. Faith and repentance are seen to be as unattainable
to him as perfect obedience to the law. Only when a man in convinced of his
own inability, will he cry for mercy. Sovereign mercy is his only hope, because
all other doors are closed! Only when we have no ability can we see His almighty
ability to save.

It has been suggested by many that if we preach salvation as a sovereign gift
of God, it will cause men to sit still and fold their arms. IT WILL NOT! But
if men did so, we could not help their case by giving them error. Our calling
is not to prove to you the REASONABLENESS of any truth. God’s Word is
true whether men believe it or not! Our business is not to defend any truth
from its consequences. As preachers of the Lord, we are to assert the truth
because it is God’s word; then if our hearers do not like it, they must
settle the quarrel with their Master. We are messengers; Christ is our message!
The Lord has to reveal and apply the message. He must make the unwilling willing,
to make the ungodly godly, and bring the rebel to the feet of Christ or else
salvation will not be accomplished. & nbsp; - Pastor Henry Mahan

I have heard preachers use the phrase “common grace”. I’m
not sure what they mean by that phrase. But I certainly do not like it. God’s
grace is always sovereign, particular, special, and saving. I do not see how
it could ever be called “common grace”. While we do not believe
in common grace, we certainly believe that all believers have grace in common!
We are all only sinners saved by grace.
