Sundays 11:00 am Channel 36 WTVQ
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.
Come, all harmonious tongues
Your noblest music bring
‘Tis Christ the everlasting God
And Christ the Man we sing
Tell how He took our flesh
To take away our guilt
Sing the dear drops of sacred blood
That on the cross was spilt.
The waves of swelling grief
Did o’er His bosom roll
And mountains of almighty wrath
Lay heavy on His soul
Down to the shades of death
He bow’d His mighty head
Yet He arose to live and reign
When death itself is dead.
There the Redeemer sits
High on the Father’s throne
The Father lays His vengeance by
And smiles upon His Son
There His full glories shine
With uncreated rays
Beheld by saints’ and angels’ eyes
To everlasting days.
(Tune: “This is My Father’s World” p. 39)

WHAT PREACHING SHOULD BE
In I Corinthians 14, Paul is rebuking the church at Corinth for their abuse
of the supernatural gift of tongues…the ability to preach the Gospel in
another language. In verses 7-9 he gives us three words that characterize true
preaching: (1) distinction, (2) not uncertain,(3) easy to be understood. If
the preaching is distinct, you don’t have to try and figure out what the
preacher meant. You know what he meant. True preaching is not uncertain. It
is not ambiguous. It is not something that can satisfy two people that have
a diff erent set of beliefs. And in true preaching the words are easy to understand.
If the preaching is unintelligible, it if it presented in language that a child
could not understand, it is not preaching that God inspires. True preaching
is distinct, not uncertain, and easy to understand.

WHY IS THE GOSPEL A MYSTERY TO MOST?
Proverb 8:9
Why is the Truth such a mystery to most? Why is the Gospel so clear to the believer,
yet the world does not see it that way at all? Because Christ said, “It
is not given to them but to you it is given .” The Gospel is a revelation,
a gift, a very personal one at that. Just as you and I give gifts to whomever
we will, so it is with the unspeakable gift of a revelation of the Truth. He
reveals it to whomsoever He will. And when He reveals the Truth, it is, “all
plain to him that understandeth and right to them that find knowledge.”
(Proverbs 8:9)

Faith is not believing that God will do what I want Him to do, or what I think
I need Him to do. Faith is believing that God will do what He said He would
do. Faith in Christ is an abandonment of our own thoughts and ways, and a complete,
unreserved trusting of Him as our Righteousness, Sin-offering and Sovereign.

UNBELIEF A CHOICE - FAITH A GIFT
Unbelief is a choice men make, a decision of the rebel will of unregenerate
souls. Again and again we read this accusation against the wicked in the Book
of God: “Ye will not believe.” In fact, this is set before us as
the very core of wickedness in fallen man - “Ye believe not one me”
(John 16:9). The wicked perish because they choose not to trust the Son of God.
Men and women shall justly bear the judgment of God f orever in hell because
they will not to believe.
But faith in Christ is never spoken of in Scripture as a decision people make.
Faith is never represented as something men will to do. Faith in Christ is the
gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). It is the operation of God the Holy Spirit in us
(Colossians 2:12), born in us by that same omnipotent, resurrection power of
God that raised Christ from the dead (Ephesians 1:19). Faith in Christ is the
fruit of life bestowed. As the newborn infant finds himself breathing, so the
heaven born soul finds himself believing.
If you now find yourself believing on the Son of God, it is because He has given
you everlasting life. If you will not to believe, it is because the wrath of
God abides on you (John 3:36).

LISTEN TO THE WHOLE MESSAGE
& nbsp; “And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, the
Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: and they shall kill Him,
and the third day He shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.”
- Matthew 17:22-23
Our Lord began to show unto His disciples how that He must suffer and die and
rise the third day. They were so overcome with grief that they missed the good
news that He should rise the third day. It would do us well to listen to the
whole message; they heard one point of His message, but missed the message.
Therefore, they missed the blessing of His resurrection. The good news is in
the whole message.
