It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel
HYMN OF THE DAY
Look upon me, Lord I pray Thee
Let Thy Spirit dwell in mine
Thou hast sought me, Thou hast bought me
Take my heart and make it Thine.
Nought I ask for, nought I strive for
But Thy grace so rich and free
This thou givest by the Saviour
He hath all things who hath Thee.
Precious is the name of Jesus
Who can half its worth unfold?
Far beyond angelic praises
Sweetly sung to harps of gold.
Guide me, Oh Thou great Jehovah
Pilgrim through this barren land
I am weak, but Thou art mighty
Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
(Tune: “Jesus Calls Us” p. 374)

TAKE HEED WHAT AND HOW YOU HEAR
“Take heed what ye hear” - Mark 4:24
“Take heed how ye hear” - Luke 8:18
Hearing is a critical part of the Gospel scheme. “How shall they believe
on Him whom they have not heard.” “Faith cometh by hearing.”
Why the Gospel itself is called in Galatians 3:2,5 “The hearing of faith.”
Is it any wonder the Saviour said, “Take heed what he hear,” and
“Take heed how ye hear.” What has to do with the content of that
which is heard. How has to do with the manner of hearing.
I will be what I hear. If I hear error, I will be in error. If I hear the Truth,
I will believe the Truth and grow in grace and the knowledge of my Lord and
Saviour, Jesus Christ. God does not speak apart from the Truth. That is why
we should take heed what we hear. I will only benefit by what I hear by the
manner in which I hear. That is why I am to take heed how I hear. If I hear
with a dull and sleepy ear; If I hear with a critical ear; if I hear without
a desire to be fed, I will not benefit!
What a needful two edged warning. Take heed what you hear and take heed how
you hear.

&nbs p; Sin is a noun. It is what I am. Sin is a verb. It is what I do.
Sin is an adjective. It describes me. Sin is an adverb. It describes what I
do. Thank God for the promise of the Gospel, “Thou shalt call His name
Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21).

AN EPITAPH FOR ALL PASTORS AND TEACHERS
“Here lies the body and the works of Henry Mahan. Like the cover of an
old book, its contents torn out, and it lies here the food for worms! But this
work shall not be lost, for it will appear once more in a new and elegant edition;
redeemed, revised, and corrected by the Author and Finisher of our faith, “Who
for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” &nbs p; -Henry
Mahan
WHAT THINK YE OF CHRIST?
The question is asked, “What think ye of Christ?” The question has
to do with thoughts, not words, written creeds, and religious traditions. The
question has to do with your thoughts - not your church’s, your preacher’s,
nor the old writer’s - but what do you think of Jesus Christ. A person’s
salvation depends on his thoughts of Christ; his thoughts of Christ depend upon
his understanding of the person and work of Christ; and his understanding of
Christ depends on wh at he has heard, learned, and been taught of Christ by
the Father (John 6:44-45). Tell me what you think of Christ Jesus, and I will
tell you what you believe about the character of God, the condition of men,
and the way God saves sinners. Tell me what you think of Christ Jesus and you
reveal whether you understand and believe the gospel of a “Just God and
Saviour.” - Pastor Henry Mahan

;
Let it never be forgotten that when a person is down, he has a grand opportunity
for trusting the Lord. A false faith can only float in smooth waters; but true
faith, like a lifeboat, is at home in storms. If our faith in Christ does not
bear us up in times of trial, what is the use of it? We can’t trust a
thief as far as we can see him; shall we dare to treat our God in that fashion?
- C. H. Spurgeon

Fit?
A man is never so fit for believing as when he is most unfit. It its unfitness,
not fitness, that is really required. What is fitness for being washed? Filth!
What is fitness for receiving pardon? Guilt! If you are filthy, if you are guilty,
you have all the fitness that is required. So, come and find in Jesus Christ
all that meets your greatest need.

“Will worship” (Col. 2:23) is ascribing to the will of man the work
of God. Like all other forms of idolatry, it is damning to all who practice
it. – Pastor Don Fortner
