It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel

HYMN OF THE DAY
The birds without barn or storehouse are fed
From them let us learn to trust for our bread
His saints, what is needful, shall not be denied
So long as it’s written. “The Lord will provide!”

We all may, like ships, by tempest be tossed
On perilous seas, but will not be lost.
Though Satan enrages the wind and the tide
Yet Scripture engages, “The Lord will provide!”

No strength of our own, nor goodness we claim
Our trust is all thrown on Jesus’ dear Name
In this our strong tower for safety we hide
The Lord is our power, “The Lord will provide!”

When life sinks apace, and death is in view
The Word of His grace shall see us safe through
No fearing nor doubting with Christ on our side
We hope to die shouting, “The Lord will provide!”

(Tune: “O Worship the King” p. 1)

“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” - Proverbs 16:9

WHO IS THE ANTI-CHRIST?
John says in I John 2:18, “Even now there are many anti-christs” and He says in I John 4:3, “Every spirit that confesseth not Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God; and this is the spirit of anti-christ.” The anti-christ, whether in the pulpit or pew, is identified by what he fails to confess. He fails to confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. In that confession we confess He was before He came. He is the eternal, uncreated God. He came in the flesh so that “In Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” And as the God-Man, He did what He came to do. “Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.” He came in the flesh and completely accomplished the salvation of His people. “By one offering He hath perfected forever them that are sanctified.” To fail to confess this is to be anti-christ.

When Joseph sent his brothers back to Canaan to bring Jacob back to Egypt, he said, “See that ye fall not out by the way” (Genesis 45:24). He knew there would be finger-pointing and blaming as they recalled how they sold their brother as a slave. Do not fall out over what has taken place in the past, whether yesterday or 20 years ago. When we realize that God is in sovereign control over our bad actions and our brother’s bad actions, even though we meant it for evil, he meant it for good. Whatever was done, God was the first cause…so “See that you fall not out by the way.”

WHAT IS MEANT BY SOVEREIGN GRACE?
Sovereign grace is God’s grace. And God’s grace is Sovereign grace. If it is not Sovereign grace, it is not saving grace. Sovereign grace is the Truth. Sovereign grace is the message that declares the electing love of the Father, the redeeming love of the Son, and the invincible love of the Holy Spirit. Sovereign grace is the Gospel! Any message that does not declare the Sovereign grace of God in Christ Jesus is “another gospel”! Sovereign grace is saving grace!

PRAYER AND FORGIVENESS
“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” - Mark 1:25-26
You cannot truly pray and have an unforgiving spirit. You are simply going through an empty and meaningless ritual which God does not hear and ensures that your sin will not be forgiven. Be quick to forgive, not simply when someone asks for your forgiveness, but when you remember that they did you wrong! In doing this, God will quickly forgive your trespasses, even before we are aware of our need for forgiveness. Shakespeare was not an inspired writer, but what he said was true…. “To err is human. To forgive is divine.”

If you are going to command a lame man to take the first step…if you are going to call upon dead sinners to live….if you are going to insist that a maniac make a right decision…you’d better have a Gospel that is the power of God unto salvation, or else you mock the souls of men. You had better be speaking for the One, of the One, and with the power and blessing of the One Who is able to save to the uttermost those who come unto God by Him. Salvation is not in the ability of the preacher, nor is it contingent upon what men will do, but it is sure to all of God’s elect, because of Christ and what He did do. Christ does not taunt the lame with the bargain that if they will only take a step, He will save them. He saves them, by the preaching of the Gospel, and then they leap and shout and praise God.
– Chris Cunningham

The Bible was not given to teach me history, but to teach me grace; not to teach me worldly wisdom, but the wisdom of God! Therefore, salvation and the way to God is to be found in the Scriptures and in the Scriptures only. He who does not always preach and teach the Scriptures ought not to be called a minister of God. – C. H. Spurgeon

If any man ascribes anything of salvation, even the very least thing, to the free will of man, he knows nothing of grace, and he has not
learned Jesus Christ rightly. - Martin Luther
